[ it's pretty clear that whoever's putting out this video has little to no idea of what they're doing - not only is it being shot upside down, but it's framed pretty badly, with only one red eye and a few locks of blue hair visible against the familiar backdrop of New Bark Town.

Though it's hard to make out her expression, her one visible eye is a little narrowed and when she starts talking, her voice is understandably nervous. ]

Uh... H--hey... Is this some kinda messed up prank? Mitsuru-san, Akihiko-san, Aigis - or whoever's watchin' this - w--well, it ain't funny, yeah?! I dunno where I am! I ain't never heard of New Bark Town an' I never heard a' no Pokémon either!

And-- an' all this--!

[ she jerks the camera down to point it at her body, revealing the slight build of a high school girl, still dressed in her summer uniform. ]

I don't even wanna know how you did it but-- but just quit it, alright?! [ her voice wavers a little and she sounds almost like she's close to tears. ] Just stop it! It ain't funny at all!

[ there's a little bleat from off camera and then an exceptionally fluffy Mareep wanders into the shot at the girl's feet. She sniffs a little and when she speaks up again, her voice is a little calmer and gentler. ]

Oh -- s'you again. What are you, anyway? Some kinda--?

[ and that's when either her finger slips or something and the video abruptly cuts off. ]

[ and falls into an almost guilty silence and fidgets uncomfortably for a moment before she finally replies and her voice is a little sullen, almost like a scolded child's. ]

... M'Labrys.

[ a pause. ]

So this is for real then, huh?

'Labrys'...cute name. Nice to meet you, kid.

But yeah, it's pretty real. Don't start panicking, 'cause it won't do any good. Whatever you got at home is probably on hold--ain't sure how, but everyone that's gone home and come back says as much far as I've heard. And that little fluffy thing, that's your partner around here.

That's about the most important parts of the basic idea, I think.

On hold? Like, paused or somethin'?

[ even if she can't quite bring herself to believe this is actually what it seems not continuing to protest won't get her any answers -- better to go with the flow for now. ]

So, is there a way to get back home? Do I gotta do somethin' then I get sent back?

Afraid I can't answer that one for ya. What I mean is, ain't any of us that know. I know it sucks, but it's best to go along with it for now.

For now...

[ she trails off and her voice is a little sullen again. She doesn't like this at all -- it's not just a matter of being dumped in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people, it's the whole "squishy meatbag bits where there should be shiny robot bits" deal that's really concerning her. ]

... So what is it exactly I'm s'pposed t'be goin' along with? All this Pokemon stuff... I don't get it.

Ain't really much of a hard set of rules to it. That little fluffy thing, that's your partner--it can fight the other creatures runnin' around this place, and you can catch 'em to make a team of your own. Someone else can probably explain that much better than I can, I was never all that great at that part.

[ that

makes her pause for a moment. ]

... wait, fight? We're s'pposed ta make these little critters fight each other?

[ needless to say she does not approve ]

Who the hell came up with that idea?!

[Shrug.]

No idea. Does sound a little weird when you just say it outright like that, but to tell ya the truth it looks like they have fun with it. Ain't that right, Tyrfing?

[Lancer looked over his shoulder to a Lucario--who was wearing a warm scarf and seemed quite happy about this fact. He raised a paw and waved it idly, clearly more concerned with his adorable accessory than anything else.]

Just cuz they look like they're havin' fun don't mean they are havin' fun! Ain't anyone ever sat down and asked 'em what they think about it?

and that is admittedly a cute as hell scarf, but ]

I don't gotta join in w'this, right? Cuz I ain't doin' it!

[Giving what Labrys was saying serious consideration for a minute, Lancer whistled quietly--apparently signaling a Houndoom to stick her head in the frame.]

Yo, Olldóiteán. You heard her, what d'you think of it?

[If a large hellhound could shrug, that seemed to be what she did in response.]

There you go, kid. But hey, ain't a damn thing says you have to do anything at all. Your choice, y'know?

... they really like it? They really think it's fun?

[ she just can't wrap her mind around it.

she has to swallow hard before she can reply and there's a bit of a wobble to her voice that she's clearly doing her best to keep under control. ]

W--well, good! 'Cuz I ain't gonna! There's gotta be other stuff ta do in this place besides fightin', yeah? You ain't tellin' me that's all anybody does around here!

Anythin', really. Travel around, explore the world, settle down somewhere...whatever you feel like.

[Shrug.]

Hey, mind if I ask you somethin'?

... yeah. Go ahead. I mean, I've been askin' you a ton a' questions. Guess it's fair.

It's kinda obvious you got some kinda personal issue with it, and that's probably none of my business. I ain't gonna go pryin' into stuff I got nothin' to do with, so if you don't wanna answer don't bother.

[You're not subtle, Labrys.]

But what's wrong with havin' a fight just for fun once in a while?

... s'nothin' wrong in fightin' someone if ya both agree and it's how ya have fun. 'Cuz then it's fair, yeah? Y'both go into it knowin' what's gonna happen, and ya can back out whenever ya want. Or y'can say 'no' before it even starts if y'really don't wanna do it.

But bein' forced t'do it... that's different.

...you're havin' kind of a rough time, aren't ya?

[Lancer frowned, voice unusually calm and patient, by his standards. Damn his soft spot for kids.]

No, you're right--I get it.

[ a little sullenly; ]

Well, I ain't havin' fun.

[ then she sighs. ]

... what else is there ta do here, then? 'cuz I ain't fightin' but I'm not just sittin' around on my butt, either.

Same kinda stuff you'd get around any modern world, I guess. Me, I traveled until I found a city worth settlin' in for a while, and I'm still here for now.

Travellin', huh...

[ while being stuck here doesn't exactly sound like a barrel of laughs, the idea of being able to explore -- to go wherever she wants without being boxed in -- that's certainly appealing in a way she can't quite articulate. ]

It's a pretty big world, kid. You'd have to get around it somehow.

Me? I'm in Goldenrod--handful of towns away from where you probably are now. But it's a big city, tough to miss.

Ah-- a big city? S'good, I guess... I was kinda thinkin' the whole place was gonna be like--

[ she makes a sweeping gesture with her arm but that's probably a little hard to tell with the terrible framing of the video. ]

-- this. Just a buncha tiny little villages.

A lot of 'em are pretty small--I think Goldenrod and Celadon are the biggest cities, maybe. I hear Saffron's nothin tiny, either.

What kinda stuff's there to do? 'part from fightin' or whatever it is everyone does with their critters.

[ then she suddenly looks a bit embarrassed and looks away, scratching her cheek. ]

... uh. Sorry. I'm probably askin' a whole lotta dumb questions.
