001 → video

[ it's pretty clear that whoever's putting out this video has little to no idea of what they're doing - not only is it being shot upside down, but it's framed pretty badly, with only one red eye and a few locks of blue hair visible against the familiar backdrop of New Bark Town.

Though it's hard to make out her expression, her one visible eye is a little narrowed and when she starts talking, her voice is understandably nervous. ]

Uh... H--hey... Is this some kinda messed up prank? Mitsuru-san, Akihiko-san, Aigis - or whoever's watchin' this - w--well, it ain't funny, yeah?! I dunno where I am! I ain't never heard of New Bark Town an' I never heard a' no Pokémon either!

And-- an' all this--!

[ she jerks the camera down to point it at her body, revealing the slight build of a high school girl, still dressed in her summer uniform. ]

I don't even wanna know how you did it but-- but just quit it, alright?! [ her voice wavers a little and she sounds almost like she's close to tears. ] Just stop it! It ain't funny at all!

[ there's a little bleat from off camera and then an exceptionally fluffy Mareep wanders into the shot at the girl's feet. She sniffs a little and when she speaks up again, her voice is a little calmer and gentler. ]

Oh -- s'you again. What are you, anyway? Some kinda--?

[ and that's when either her finger slips or something and the video abruptly cuts off. ]

No, we're from different worlds. I didn't know what Pokemon were when I came here, either, or why that woman claimed to be my mother.

Yeah. She does that whole spiel to everyone that's taken from another world.

[Al offers a sympathetic smile--it seems like she was taken at a rough time.]

Uh-huh, they're the animals of this world. The locals here collect and raise them, and they have really weird abilities. You can train them to fight, if you want--if you're traveling on the routes, you will get jumped by wild Pokemon, so training at least a little is a good idea.

Ah, I wouldn't say dangerous, really. The Pokemon can be troublesome, but the time that I did have traveling by foot was really nice compared to when I was traveling back home. You just need to keep alert for those encounters, and if you leave your Pokemon out of the ball they'll usually pick up on anything coming and defend you from it.

--oh, but don't eat any of the berries you find on the road! Most of the stuff that isn't grown specifically for humans around here has some nasty side-effects. I made that mistake my first night on the road, and my stomach did not like me for it.
armoredsoul: (Um...?)

That should be fine--Pokemon can eat the berries, too, and in cities you can find bags of more specialized food for the different kinds of Pokemon. [Al frowns for a moment, thinking.] The only sheep Pokemon I can think of are...Mareep? I think that's right.

[Al chuckles, nodding.] Yeah, they're pretty attached to you from day one. You can find out more about the species in your Pokedex--it's basically an encyclopedia all about Pokemon in that one little machine. [Al's still in awe about that, really--so much information in one tiny little device! So cool!]
armoredsoul: (Hm...)

Yeah! Well, there were a bunch of Pokemon that showed up from another region of this world a few months ago, and we had to wait to receive data on them, but that was kind of a special case.
